I developed my group cello classes out of the desire to teach two aspects of music that I cannot teach in private lessons:  ensemble playing and performance practice.  You need a group to learn how to listen to others and blend while you are playing, and you need supportive ears as you learn the art of performing for others.

There are many other aspects of musicianship which are turbo-charged through group class, including sight-reading, technique, sound, intonation, and music theory.  Most importantly, we learn how to create a supportive environment where everyone can flourish.

Classes meet twice a month on Tuesdays during the school year, through the Rivertowns Arts Music Program in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.  Group classes are done in conjunction with private lessons.  Students studying privately with other teachers are welcome to join.  Classes are arranged according to playing level – beginner through advanced.
